Update from Sudan

So what happened in Sudan last week? You know, you’re normal week (ha ha):

The pastor’s conference had 1,630 participants. Men and women from Sudan, Congo and Uganda flooded in for teaching, preaching, encouragement and heavenesque worship.

Dr. Danny Akin, President of Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, preached and taught every day. A huge honor and blessing to us. Meanwhile his wife helped plant a new church!

We saw over 160 baptized between the conference and the work in two villages of church planting and church strenghthening. A huge thanks to Prestonwood Church who sent the team and supported the conference and so much more work here in Sudan!!

Our team found persons of peace and watched them (new believers) begin to share the Gospel with their friends and neighbors. Teams that included everything from a photographer mom, to a former semi-pro poker player, to insurance salesmen, to 11-year old Alec Jordan and his dad.

Harry Pittam, pastor of First Baptist Lovington, NM followed up with a church he helped to plant last year. He saw the new water well they put in, and the mud and straw church the people built on their own initiative.

And me...I watched my 8-year old little girl Alexa, along with the lovely Ali (mom), embrace Sudan and one day lead 18 other kiddos to new life in Christ. It doesn’t get much better than that.

Now please pray for the second team coming in. I hear the volcano is stirring again, and the evil one is always at work as well.

More later, bless you ....

Mike
