Francis From Sudan

So here�s a crazy, God story for ya. Bob calls me a week or so ago. Bob is a retired oilman who had spent one assignment in Egypt. While in Egypt, he hired a Sudanese refugee to help him out. That refugee�s name is Francis. Bob and Francis really hit it off, and Bob�s looked in on him over the years. The same years that brought Francis, along with his wife and son (now he has three), to America. Once here, Francis worked hard, became a citizen. Heck, he�s even bought a house. The American dream. All with a disfigured hand that was broken badly in Sudan and not repaired very well.

Bob calls me and tells me that Francis can�t forget his people in Sudan. He�s been collecting clothes and shoes for them for four years. Somehow Bob heard I was sending a container to Sudan and wanted to know if I could help Francis. Francis, it turns out, lives in Dallas. Now get this. Francis lives about ONE mile from my house. Wait, it gets better. Francis is from �. Kajo Keji. The same village/town as David Kaya. Francis is of the same tribe! Here�s a photo of one of THREE truckloads of clothes I�m putting in the container thanks to Francis and his Sudanese buddies here in town. Four years, they�ve prayed about how to get this stuff to Sudan. Wham-O. How cool is that?

I was sitting in Wendy�s yesterday with Francis enjoying a burger when Kaya called. We annoyed the heck out of the other customers as Francis spoke in a loud version of Ku Ku to David. I appreciated the moment. Anyway, David and I talked for a minute about the work in Yei and here�s his report so far.

The Lord planted two new churches. Let�s pray the babies make it.

They *were* strengthening one. I use the word, �were� because they worked in the area all week; however, it didn�t exactly end well. The pastor showed up yesterday with a large bill. Apparently, he was under the mistaken view that this was a paying operation. The bad part of that is the pastor�s heart isn�t right. The good is that it was a growing opportunity for a few of our leaders to handle this situation.
